The Mount Ida College men’s soccer team recorded a 1-1 tie
with the University of Maine Farmington this afternoon in North
Atlantic Conference action. Both squads now have records of 3-0-1
versus league foes. The Mustangs have played to an overall record
of 5-3-1, while the Beavers have amassed a 3-3-2 mark.
Maine Farmington got on the board first, when sophomore Jordan
Hickey (York, Maine) tallied off a feed from senior Nate Ghelli
(Lancaster, N.H.) in the 35th minute.
The Beavers held Mount Ida scoreless until the 86th minute. It was
then that senior Josh Belongie (Ashway, R.I./Chariho
Regional) knotted things up with his team-best fourth
marker of the fall. The teams went scoreless in the overtime
periods, and the match ended in a tie.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brian Leighton (Turner,
Maine/Leavitt Area) turned away four shots for the
Mustangs, while sophomore Brian Lemont (Brunswick, Maine) made one
save for Maine Farmington.
