2016 GEICO Play of the Year Announced on CBS March 27 at Noon ET

February 1, 2016 – CHICAGO – Mount Ida College sophomore Joey DeFillippi's (Bristol, Conn.) deep 3 to beat the buzzer and lead the Mustangs to a 73-71 win over Emmanuel is nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today. 

Now we need you - the fans of Mustang City - to make sure that he moves on to the final round by voting for DeFillippi as many times as possible this week before voting closes on Friday.

Each week for five weeks, four incredible college basketball plays will be nominated as the GEICO Play of the Year. Each week's winner will be determined by fan voting through the official Facebook page (facebook.com/BestofCollegeBasketball). The five finalists will compete in a week-long competition to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special which airs March 27 at Noon ET on CBS.

DeFillippi's game-winning deep three is competing against three other plays from week one, including an impressive alley-oop dunk by Lebanon Valley's Andy Orr, a game-winning off-balance jumper by Lasell's Armin Omanovic, and a three-quarter court game-winner by Elmira's Justin Henderson.
