NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Mount Ida College men's basketball team fell to the 7th ranked Falcons of Albertus Magnus on Thursday evening by a final score pf 97-68. With the loss, Mount Ida falls to 7-17 on the season and 5-12 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
Mount Ida was led by sophomore Ethan Dujon (Warwick, R.I.) who finished with 21 points on 10-13 shooting from the field and 1 for 5 from the charity stripe. Freshman guard Alex Givins-Perry (Webster, Mass.) saw his best game in a Mustang uniform by scoring a career high 11 points while shooting 71.7 % from the floor. Patrick McKearney (Avon, Conn.) recorded ten points and six rebounds in the GNAC contest.
Tonight's win was the Falcons' 54th straight victory at home to add to the longest active home court winning streak in the country (men's basketball – all levels).
Tavon Sledge (Spring Valley, N.Y.) led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting. He was also 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Two days after he recorded a triple-double, Eian Davis (Brooklyn, Conn.) followed up with another solid performance as he registered 17 points and 10 assists to go along with seven rebounds in 34 minutes of work.
Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) added 19 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots, while Julian Sanders (Trumbull, Conn.) contributed with 12 points and six boards.
Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) added eight points and seven rebounds for the Falcons.
Mount Ida was led by 21 points from Ethan Dujon. Dujon shot an impressive 10-of-13 from the floor in 23 minutes of work. Patrick McKearney added 10 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs.
The Falcons shot 51.4% in the first half on 18-of-35 shooting as they were led by Sledge with 10 first-half points. The Falcons also out-rebounded the Mustangs 27-14 in the frame. Mount Ida was led by Ethan Dujon with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the half.
At the break, the Falcons held a 45-31 advantage.
In the second half, the Falcons shot 50% from the floor but struggled behind the arc, hitting just two of their 12 attempts. Mount Ida shot 41.9% from the field in the second half and finished the night at 40.3% as the Mustangs hit just three of their 21 three-point field-goal attempts.
The Falcons' largest lead of the game came with 3:22 left in the contest when they lead by 34 points. Mount Ida's only lead was 48 seconds into the contest.
Albertus is now 13-2 all-time against the Mustangs, including 7-0 at home. The Falcons have won nine-straight against Mount Ida and have registered wins in 12 out of their last 13 meetings.
Mount Ida will be back in action in their season finale on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in the Mount Ida Athletic Center as they take on the Rivier Raiders. With a win in grand finale, Mount Ida will return to the GNAC tournament and await their opponent later on Saturday afternoon when the GNAC men's basketball brackets are announced.
Albertus Magnus will finish the regular season with a GNAC road contest at Anna Maria College on Saturday.
