Walker's Record Performance Nets GNAC Award

NEWTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Cam Walker (New Bedford, Mass.) was named the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's basketball Player of the Week after a record performance this past weekend.

Walker tied a Mount Ida College program record with 41 points in the first game of the year, an 88-87 overtime victory over Roger Williams at the Courtyard by Marriot Invitational hosted by the Hawks. With a 17-for-30 shooting performance, Walker set new Mount Ida records for most field goals made and attempted in a single game.

The forward added 31 more points in Saturday's Championship Game against Clark, and was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 36.0 points over the course of the weekend.

Walker shot 57% from the field and hit on 50% of his 14 three-point attempts, including a 5-9 (56%) showing from downtown on Saturday.

He will lead the Mustangs into Boston on Wednesday afternoon for their next game, a 5:30 pm showdown at Emerson College.
