The Mount Ida College men's basketball team fell to hosting Emerson College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Thursday evening in Boston, Massachusetts by a score of 77-66.
Mount Ida slumps to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the GNAC while the Lions improve to 6-6 on the year and 4-1 in conference play.
The first half saw the Lions come out roaring as 10 different Emerson players put up points in the half as they dropped a red-hot 52% from the floor. Brian Hurley stepped up to dominate in the paint for EC, putting in seven.
Emerson dominated in nearly every facet in the first half, out-rebounding and outscoring the Mustangs while forcing seven steals from Mount Ida. The Mustangs kept the hustle going with Aaron Kelly (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) trying to keep them in it with nine points of his own to lead the floor, but the Lions rolled into half up 42-25.
The second half saw the Mustangs surge back in the game with Aaron Kelly again leading the way with nine points while the Mount Ida defense stepped up to force 10 turnovers that they turned into 13 points.
The Lions battled back though as Jon Goldberg put up six points while Eric Wahl and James Rhodes put up five each as Emerson put up 48% from the floor. Emerson also dominated from the paint, dropping 16 on the Mustangs as the Lions held on for a 77-66 win.
