NEWTON, Mass. – The Mount Ida College field hockey team evened their season record at 3-3 with a 10-0 shutout of visiting Daniel Webster College in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Lexi Minicucci (Westfield, Mass.) scored four times and Jessica Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.) needed to make only one stop in net to earn her first collegiate victory and shutout.
Sarah Hemstock (Oakland, R.I.) added two goals and an assist, and she started the scoring at the 7:46 mark of the first half.
The lead was only 1-0 for the next 15 minutes, but the Mustangs scored five times in the last 12 minutes of the first half.
Emily Salls (Springvale, Maine) potted her third goal of the year and would later go on to add an assist as well, and freshman Lindsey Hildreth (Westbrook, Maine) scored her first collegiate marker before Minicucci added three straight goals spanning the gap of halftime, where the Mustangs led 6-0.
In the second half, Hemstock struck again, with Minicucci picking up an assist, and junior Sarah Gordinier (Abington, Mass.) got her first goal as a Mustang, with Patty Ryan (Livermore Falls, Maine) picking up the assist.
Ryan would cap the scoring at the 54:59 mark with her second goal of the season, tapping in a rebound.
The Mustangs outshot Daniel Webster 51-1, and Eagles freshman Ashlyn Farwell (Pelham, Mass.) made 14 saves in net, with freshman Alissa Ouelette (Nashua, N.H.) preventing another goal with a defensive save.
Henry's one stop came late in the game on a point blank attempt from Jacqueline Goodno (Manchester, N.H.).
Mount Ida looks for their first conference win on Saturday when they travel to Simmons for an 11:00 AM start.
Daniel Webster (0-3) takes the weekend off before playing at Clark on September 20th at 7:00 pm.
