STANDISH, Maine -- Mount Ida was held to just one shot and suffered a 9-0 defeat to conference leading Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Brenna Santos (East Falmouth, Mass.) made 14 saves, as Mount Ida (4-7, 0-4 GNAC) was outshot 34-1.
Freshman Lexi Minicucci (Westfield, Mass.) fired the only shot of the game for the Mustangs, and Monks goalie Emma Astbury was not forced int oa save in collecting the shutout.
Bailey Cutler scored four times for the hosts, three of them in the first half as Saint Joseph's built a 6-0 lead at the break.
Kelsey Dumond scored on either side of the half, as did Effie Drew, with Dumonds picking up two assists as well.
Mount Ida will return home to host non-conference opponent Daniel Webster on Tuesday at 3:30 pm. The Mustangs collected their first ever win in program history against the Eagles on September 11th with a 4-0 win in Nashua.
The Monks (10-1, 4-0 GNAC) travel to Johnson & Wales next Saturday for a 12:00 pm game.
