BERLIN, Mass. -- The Mount Ida equestrian team had a successful day of competition at the Worcester State Horse Show on Sunday afternoon at Maplewood Farm, as the Mustangs combined for eight top six individual finishes during the competition.
Junior Baylee Curley (Duxbury, Mass.) took top honors in the walk/trot and qualified for next weekend’s Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Regional Championships for Mount Ida, which received respective second and third place performances from freshman Kamori Porter-Jacques (Bellingham, Mass.) in the walk/trot and junior Abby Brand (New Boston, N.H.) in the intermediate flat. Juniors Alison Cox (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Kiersten Bazdanes (Dracut, Mass.) posted respective fourth and fifth place finishes in the walk/trot and novice flat for the Mustangs, who received a trio of sixth place performances from juniors Brandy Bussiere (Newton, Mass.) and Rachel Rappa (Poughquag, N.Y.), as well as freshman Katherine Amaral (Bourne, Mass.), in the novice flat.
Mount Ida will send five student-athletes to compete in the IHSA Regionals next Saturday at Winter’s End Farm in Stoughton, Mass. beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Mustangs will also compete at the IHSA Regional Point Show on Friday morning at Winter’s End Farm at 10:00 a.m.
