Equestrian Places Sixth at Regional Finals; Ward Qualifies for Zones

HANOVER, Mass. -- The Mount Ida College equestrian team competed at Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regional Finals on Saturday afternoon and placed sixth overall out of the 13 competing schools, while also seeing several student-athletes place in their respective disciplines at Holly Hill Show Stable.

Freshman Sarah Ward (Buckland, Mass.) qualified for Zone Finals by finishing 1st in Novice Flat and finishing second in Novice Fences in her first time competing at the regional finals competition. Ward will represent the Mustangs at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. at Zones next weekend with a chance to advance to Nationals on the line.

Also competing in their first Regionals were sophomore Seyward Guthrie (Coventry, R.I.) who competed in Advanced Walk, Trot, Canter, and freshman Carolyn Donovan (Raynham, Mass.), who placed 5th in Intermediate Flat.

Finishing her Mount Ida career in a big way was senior Ashley Meacham (Middlebury, Vt.), who took fourth overall, out of 11 riders in her division.
