Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse freshman attacker Phil Pichel (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) was honored as this week’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player-of-the-Week to open the league weekly awards selections. This is the first time Pichel has been recognized in any capacity. He was also named Mustang-of-the-Week by the Mount Ida Sports Information Department.
Pichel led the Mustangs to their first victory of the season at non-league Salve Regina University last Wednesday in an 11-7 win. Pichel would record a game-high five goals to start his college career against the Seahawks. He went on to tally four goals and one assist in a tough 11-10 overtime loss to visiting Curry College Saturday in the fourth annual Frostbite Classic.
The Mustangs will host non-conference New England College Wednesday afternoon with game time slated for 3:30 p.m.
