HEMMANN SELECTED AS SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

HEMMANN SELECTED AS SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College senior kicker Bobby Hemmann (Newington, CT/Newington) has been named this week’s Eastern Collegiate Football Conference’s (ECFC) Special Teams Player-of-the-Week and Mustang-of-the-Week.

With 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter of play Hemmann converted a 47 yard field goal attempt propelling the Mustangs to a 24-21 non-conference victory over visiting UMASS-Dartmouth Friday evening in the 2012 season opener in Newton, Massachusetts. It was the first game ever played on Alumni Field, Mount Ida's new state-of-the-art turf stadium just recently completed this summer turning out to be a memorable day for all involved in the "Light the Night" kick-off event in the college's first ever night game.  The 47 yarder tied the all-time distance record at the school set back in 2010 by former kicker Billy Beauzile.

This is the first time Hemmann has been honored by the conference and his first ever Mustang-of-the-Week selection.  Mount Ida football will travel to non-league foe Plymouth State University Saturday afternoon with game time slated for 1:00 p.m.
