Mount Ida College junior cornerback Mack Charles (Lynn, MA/Lynn Tech) was selected as defensive player-of-the-week for the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) this past Monday for his efforts in a 41-16 romping over hosting non-conference Plymouth State University. The victory snapped a 17-game home winning streak for the Panthers having not lost a game on Currier field since October 21, 2006 falling to Curry College 40-26.
Charles was nothing short of fantastic Saturday afternoon recording three solo tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery. After recovering the fumble, Charles took off downfield for a 53 yard gain setting up the Mustangs on Plymouth’s 22 yard line that would eventually lead to a two play drive for a touchdown early in the middle of the first quarter.
The Mustangs have a bye week this coming Saturday and will restart the action on September 25, 2010 on homecoming against visiting Norwich University for a rematch of the 2009 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) title game.
