Mount Ida College women's basketball senior Ashley Boyd (Hanson, MA/Hanson-Whitman) has been named this week's Mustang-of-the-Week. This is the first time Boyd has received this award in her two year career with the women's basketball program.
Boyd led the Mustangs to a 68-56 non-conference victory last Tuesday night against visiting Anna Maria College with 10 points and 11 rebounds good for her first double-double of the season.
The women's basketball program ends the first semester with a solid six victories under their belts, two more wins than last season (4 - 2008-09) up to this point. Boyd has been a key factor in their success so far with tenacious defense and solid overall rebounding. She lands third on the team in rebounds (6.7 RPG) and is averaging 5.9 points per game.
The Mustangs will restart 2009-2010 on January 7th, 2010 against visiting non-conference Framingham State College starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Mount Ida College Athletic Center.
