Leonard Tangishaka was inducted in 2001 to the Mount Ida College Athletic Hall-of-Fame. 

Leonard hails from Burundi, an African country bordering Tanzania and Rwanda.  He came to the United States in 1993, the same year President Ndadaye, the first President of Burundi, was assassinated.  Leonard represented his country on their national basketball team and was awarded a full-scholarship to the 1993 World Scholar-Athlete games.  Leonard was then recruited to play for Mount Ida College, where he was a star as a two year starter for Head Coach Rico Cabral and the Mustangs. 

He graduated with an Associate degree in Individualized Studies in 1995.  Leonard then received a full basketball scholarship from the University of Buffalo where he played basketball and completed a undergraduate degree in Business.
