BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- The Mount Ida men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2013 seasons by competing at the Travis Fuller Invitational, hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
The men's team secured an eighth place finish, while the women did not figure into the team score.
Junior Emily Bernotas (Sunderland, Mass.) turned in a 17th place finish for the Mustangs women, finishing in a time of 22:35 among the field of 65 athletes.
Anna Hogle (New Lebanon, N.Y.) finished 32nd overall, with a 24:19 time, while senior Kirsten Guerrero (Fairfield, Conn.) came in 42nd in 25:43.
Emily Kendall rounded out the Mount Ida team, finishing in 28:32, good for 58th place.
Freshman Jabari Bradley led the way for Mount Ida's men's team, finishing 34th out of 60 competitors, in a time of 34:39.
Bradley was followed by the work of Wyatt Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.), who came in at 48th place (38:28).
Senior JT Hoyt (Wakefield, Mass.) (40:42, 53rd place), Matt Wilson (Salem, Mass.) (56th place, 42:49), and Cole Davis (Chester, N.H.) (57th place, 52:50) rounded out the field for the men.
The Mustangs will hit the race course next on Friday afternoon, September 13th, when they compete at the Daniel Webster Invitational in Nashua, N.H.
