Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team handed Mount Ida College a 3-0 defeat this evening in non-conference action at the Framingham State Athletic Center. The Rams earned the sweep by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-15.
Each team's record moves to 4-4 on the year after this result.
The Mustangs were led by eight kills and an ace from senior Molly Alkinburg (Port Deposit, MD), while classmate Alysha Dunbar (Quincy, Mass.) added six kills and four digs. Freshman Eleni Tsetsos (Waterbury, Conn.) led the defensive effort with eight digs.
The Rams were paced by a double double effort from senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.). Rackliffe recorded a match-best 15 kills on 27 attempts with just three errors to go along with 13 digs and five blocks.
Sophomore Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) picked up three service aces and 23 set assists, while freshman Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, RI) chipped in with nine digs and four service aces. Casie Thurber (Springfield, Mass.) was solid at the net in the match for the Rams as she also recorded five blocks.
The Rams take to the road for a non-conference tri-match at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon with Western New England at 11 a.m., while the Mustangs travel to Eastern Nazarene on Saturday for a tri-match slated to begin at 11 a.m.
