NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Mount Ida took their second set against host Norwich University to level the score at a set apiece, but dropped their final two sets to end their day with a 3-1 loss to the host Cadets in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Andrews Hall Gym.
The Mustangs (5-17, 0-5 GNAC) also fell 3-0 to Johnson & Wales in their first match of the day.

The Cadets won by scores of 25-21, 12-25, 25-19, and 25-21 as they improved to 10-9 (3-2 GNAC).
The Mustangs were led by eight kills apiece from freshmen Shayna Vallauri (Morris Plains, N.J.) and Mary Kate Reidy (Agawam, Mass.). Senior Nicole Batakis (East Longmeadow, Mass.) had seven kills and just one assist for a .500 hitting percentage, and junior Taylor Davis (Machiasport, Maine) added six kills and five digs.
Senior Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, Mass.) racked up 22 assists, six digs and a service ace, while sophomore Luciana Medici (Riverside, R.I.) and junior Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) pitched in with 7 and 9 digs, respectively.
Johnson & Wales 3, Mount Ida 0
Sophomore Molly Alkingburg (Port Deposit, Md.) led the way with six kills, but Mount Ida was stifled by Johnson & Wales (10-12, 4-1 GNAC), who won by scores of 25-2, 25-8, and 25-12.
Koolman added 16 more digs to her resume, and Reidy added three more kills, while Peixoto registered seven assists and three digs in the loss.
Mount Ida will be back home on Monday for the first time since October 1st when they host GNAC opponent Albertus Magnus in a 12:00 pm Columbus Day game.
