Framingham, Mass. – The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road at Framingham State on Wednesday evening at Framingham's Athletic Center.
Mount Ida evened the match at a set apiece with a 25-21 victory in the second set, but the Rams were able to repeat their first-set 25-14 victory in the third before taking the final set 25-17.
The Mustangs were led by 11 kills from junior Hillary Kostner (Corona, Calif.). Sophomore Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, NH) led the defensive effort with 19 digs, while classmate Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, Mass.) chipped in 28 assists.
Freshman Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led the Rams with 14 kills, four aces and four digs, while sophomore Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) and freshman Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) chipped in nine kills apiece. Juniors Maribeth Martin (Barnstable, Mass.) and Morgan Drew (North Easton, Mass.) added 19 and 10 assists respectively.
The Rams are now 1-0 on the young season, while Mount Ida is now 1-4.
The Mustangs travel to Wentworth on Saturday afternoon for a tri-match beginning at 10 a.m.
