WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CLOSES 2012 SEASON AT EMERSON

Wednesday, October 31, 2012 (Boston, Massachusetts) - The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team put a close on the 2012 fall season with a 3-0 loss to hosting Emerson College in the opening round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference post-season tournament Wednesday evening by score of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-13. 

The Mustangs end their season, under the direction of first year Head Coach Craig Martin, with an overall record of 12-17 and a league slate of 6-6.  Mount Ida women's volleyball, who missed the GNAC post-season last year, matched their win total from 2011 (12) getting back into league contention as the seventh seed in the tournament. 

During the contest, Mount Ida was led offensively by number two all-time kill leader senior hitter Jennifer Ferreira (Shirley, MA/Ayer) was 10 kills on 37 attempts adding eight digs.  Freshman middle hitter Trudy Goetchius (North Andover, MA/Lawrence Vocational Tech.) tallied five kills on 17 attempts with a service ace and four digs while senior setter Julie Smith (Richmond, RI/Chariho) dished out 12 assists respectively.
