WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CAPTURES FOURTH GNAC WIN OF 2011

The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team captured a 3-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory sweeping visiting Anna Maria College on Dig Pink day in Newton, Massachusetts by scores of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-22. 

The Mustangs collect their third consecutive win improve to an overall record of 11-7 with a league slate of 4-2.  The AmCats fall to 3-14 for 2011 continuing to slide in GNAC play with a record of 0-6. 

Mount Ida was led offensively by junior hitter Jennifer Ferreira (Shirley, MA/Ayer) with 11 kills and also added four service aces.  Freshman setter Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford) dished out 16 assists while junior libero Toni Vegiard (South Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) chipped in 12 digs. 

The AmCats were led by senior Nichole Robbie (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) with five kills and 15 digs while junior Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, MA/Presentation of Mary) chipped in three service aces.  Sophomore setter Megan Leyton (Eastham, MA/Nauset Regional) dished out six assists.

The Mustangs will host GNAC rival Lasell College Tuesday afternoon with game time slated for 7:00 p.m.
