LEICESTER, Mass. -- Mount Ida's Alicia Ritchie (Andover, Mass.) and Victoria Messinger (Southbury, Conn.) took three doubles away from Becker's Dana Mahan (Manville, Conn.) and Mary Mketiah (Lawrencevile, N.J.) by a final score of 8-2. Mount Ida drops to 0-2 while Becker improves to 1-1.
In top doubles action, Becker's Jennifer Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Jacqueline Andrade (Somerset, Mass.) defeated Patti-Ann Doucette (Lynn, Mass.) Rebecca Levy (Plymouth, Mass.), 8-3. The Hawks earned the win in number two doubles when the pairing of Kerry Saltvick (Bakersfield, Calif.) and Chenylle Mercado (Tyngsborough, Mass.) bested Kaytlen Putnam (Falmouth, Mass.) and Danielle Barnabe (Warwick, R.I.), 8-2.
In top singles action, Jennifer Lord earned her second victory of the day when she fought past Rebecca Levy, 6-4, 6-4. Becker freshman Jacqueline Andrade soared over Patti-Ann Doucette in number two doubles, 6-1, 6-2. The Hawks also earned the win in number three singles when Kerry Saltvick defeated Victoria Messinger in staright sets, 6-1, 6-1. Chenylle Mercado and Dana Mahan earned victories in number four and five singles, before the Mustangs got an 8-1 victory from freshman Yuiana Chairez (Waltham, Mass.) in number six singles.
The Hawks return to the court tomorrow morning when they host Thomas College at 11:00 a.m. The Mustangs will host Newbury College on Thursday September 11 at 3:00 p.m.
