NEWTON, Mass. -- In their second home match of the year, the Mount Ida College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Becker on Saturday afternoon at Mount Ida Tennis Courts.
The Mustang's two points came by way of default, as the visitors did not fill the third doubles or sixth singles positions.
Freshman Jennifer Lord (Fall River, Mass.) forced a third set tiebreaker at the first singles position, as she took the second set from Cameron Murphy (Weymouth, Mass.) 7-5 before falling 10-5 in the tiebreak.
Patti Ann Doucette (Lynn, Mass.) battled at the second singles position and took four games in the second set after dropping the first set, 6-0.
Lord and Doucette also put up a valiant effort at first doubles, as they were edged 8-5, while Victoria Messinger (Southbury, Conn.) and Lizzie Trautz (Sandown, N.H.) fell 8-2 at the second doubles flight.
Becker improves to 1-2 on the year, while the Mustangs fall to 0-2.
Mount Ida faces their first road match of the year on Wednesday, Septemer 10th when they travel to Newbury (3:30 pm).
