Goalkeeping coach John Lowell has been playing between the sticks for more than 35 years and eagerly sharing that passion as a coach for nearly 15.

As a coach, Lowell has earned the NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma, levels 1 and 2, and holds a USSF E license.  He began his coaching career at Massabesic United Soccer Club, where he coached U12 and U14 boys to three district championships over 5 years, which led to two top-3 finishes in Maine.

Following his last team with MUSC, he assumed the role of Director of Coaching for the club, a position he held for 4 years.  During this time, he began coaching for Massabesic High School, where he coached the freshmen boys for 4 years and the Junior Varsity Boys for 1 year. Those five teams are the only boys teams in Massabesic High School history with winning seasons, which includes one undefeated season with the Freshmen Boys.

In 2008, Lowell began coaching for Velocity Soccer Club as an assistant coach/keeper coach.  After 7 years, he resigned from the club with his teams having won 2 State Cup titles, and a 100% college recruitment record for the keepers with whom he had worked.  In 2015, Lowell was awarded the President's Award from Velocity SC in recognition of the development of the club's goalkeepers.

Until 2015, Lowell had worked many years as a Referee, Referee Assignor, and Referee Assessor.

Lowell has spent his career in insurance and works as an underwriter for a New Hampshire based company.

John, his (incredibly patient) wife Tanya, and their son Thomas reside in southern Maine with their three dogs, Hector, Abbi, and Hooligan.
