Moody Shines in Senior Day Finale

NEWTON, Mass. -- Senior Isabelle Moody (Naugatuck, Conn.) concluded her four year career in a green and white uniform, with two goals on Saturday afternoon in a 3-2 set back to Suffolk on the confines of Alumni Field on Senior Day.

With those two goals, Moody closes the door on a career in which she recorded twenty-two goals while playing the 3rd most minutes in program history.

After celebrating the career of Moody in a pregame ceremony, Suffolk opened the scoring in the thirteenth minute when Jennifer Martin (Higganum, Conn.) finished a streaking breakaway down the middle of the field to give the visitors the early 1-0 cushion.

After several scoring opportunities for the Mustangs after going down 1-0, Suffolk keeper Kirsten Weiker (Durham, N.H.) kept the Mount Ida attack at bay while stopping making three of her eight saves in the opening stanza.

In the opening seconds of the half Moody nearly equalized for the Mustangs but was shied away by Weiker to preserve the 1-0 Ram lead. After Weiker's punt, Suffolk was able to win the ball at midfield and streak down the heart of the field where Alexandra Nagri (Salem, N.H.) took a feed from Martin and slotted the ball past Mustang keeper Kelsey Parkin (Standish, Me.) for the 2-0 lead.

Moody recorded her 21st career goal in the 53rd minute off a free kick from about 35 yards out that sailed over Weiker to cut the Rams lead in half at 2-1.

Just eighteen seconds after Moody's goal, Nagri struck again for Suffolk on an unassisted marker when she broke into the box on a break away while giving the Rams the 3-1 lead.

In the 69th minute, Moody once again lined up a free kick from 30 yards out in which she once again fired a shot past Weiker to bring Mount Ida back within a goal at 3-2.

Suffolk was able to hold off the Mount Ida offense for the remaining 20 minutes of the GNAC contest for the eventual 3-2 conference victory for the visitors.

Mount Ida and Suffolk both conclude the regular season and will both look ahead to the 2016 season in the coming months.
