Women’s Soccer Downed by Becker in Break from GNAC Play

LEICESTER, Mass. – Mount Ida has a two-game break from Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, which started on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to host Becker College in women's soccer action at Becker's Alumni Field.

The Mustangs, who had drawn four straight contests coming into the day, fell to 1-2-4, while Becker improves to 5-1 after taking a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Mount Ida avoided the shutout in the 84th minute on Isabelle Moody's (Naugatuck, Conn.) fifth goal of the season.

Becker got on the board just 3:55 into the game when Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) split the Mount Ida defenders with a pass to Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.), who promptly laced a shot over the head of Mount Ida freshman goalie Kelsey Parkin (Standish, Maine.).

Parkin kept the Mustangs in the game with 12 saves.

Hawks sophomore Alison Mosdale (Marlborough, Conn.) gave the home team a 2-0 advantage in the 31st minute when she broke through the Mustangs defense, scoring from 20 yards out. The Hawks took a 3-0 lead into halftime when Maria Colon (Wharton, N.J.) tickled the twine on an assist from McKissick in the 43 minute.

Rebecca Carkhuff (Amherst, Mass.) earned the victory after making three saves in 72:54 of action for the Hawks.

Both teams return to the pitch on Thursday, September 24. Mount Ida hosts Wheelock College at 7:00 pm, while Becker will travel to another GNAC opponent, Anna Maria College, for a 4:00 pm tilt.
