Mustangs Clip Wildcats, Win Second in a Row

BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Hannah Brackett (Voorheesville, N.Y.) tallied her first goal of the season just four minutes into the contest before junior defender Isabelle Moody (Naugatuck, Conn.) would tally the eventual game winning goal in the 72nd minute to lead Mount Ida to a 2-1 non-conference victory over the Wildcats of Wheelock College.

Mount Ida was able to jump out to the early lead when Brackett found the back of the Wildcats' net in the early minutes of play. The Mustangs back line stood strong defensively for the remainder of the first half to hold onto their 1-0 advantage heading into the second half.

Wheelock would be the first to open scoring in the second half, as first year defender Madelaine Demers (New Britain, Conn.) converted a pass from junior midfielder Maddie Domingo (Newington, Conn.) in the 62nd minute to even the score. Ten minutes later, however, Moody sealed the win for the Mustangs, by slipping a ball past the Wheelock keeper and into the bottom left corner of the net.

Despite the loss, sophomore keeper Madeleine Grover (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) was solid in net for the Wildcats, making 16 saves and bumping her save percentage to .790. Senior Nickole Soto (Marlborough, Mass.) stopped four for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will be back in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon when they square off against Norwich University with kickoff set for 3:00 p.m. Wheelock returns to action on Saturday as well when they host Becker College at 3:30pm.
