WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO VISITING FALCONS 2-0

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 (Newton, Massachusetts) - The Mount Ida College women's soccer team surrendered a late score against visiting Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Wednesday evening on Alumni Field eventually falling 2-0.

The Mustangs slump to an overall record of 4-10-1 with a league slate of 1-9-1 while the Falcons improve to 11-3-2 for 2012, 7-2-2 in conference play.

The action went back and forth throughout the entire first half of play with neither team able to convert a score.  Mount Ida pressured their opponents offensively the first 45 minutes of action unable to capitalize.

The stalemate continued until the 79thth minute when visiting junior midfielder Amanda Roke (Chesire, CT/Chesire) deposited a direct kick from the top of the box into the bottom right hand corner for the 1-0 advantage.

Mount Ida was stymied at that point surrendering a breakaway goal to Falcon senior midfielder Danille Figueroa (Plainville, CT/Plainville) in the 84th minute taking the 2-0 GNAC win in favor of Albertus Magnus.

Freshman netminder Samantha Basler (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North) stopped four Falcon shots while junior goaltender Christina Dineson (Milford, CT/Foran) added five saves for the visitors.

The Mount Ida women's soccer team will host Rivier College Sunday afternoon for their final home game of the 2012 season starting at 2:00 p.m.
