WOMEN'S SOCCER DROP SECOND STRAIGHT, FALL 2-0

The Mount Ida College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss to hosting Albertus Magnus College Wednesday afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Mustangs fall for the second straight game and the second consecutive league bid slumping to 2-7 for the season and now standing at 1-5 in conference competition.

Albertus junior Kelly Marchitto (West Haven, CT), who registered her first goal of the year with the game winner, connected on a free kick in the 16th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Her second goal came in the 66th minute as she drilled a shot from about 20 yards out, which cleared the hands of Mount Ida's leaping goalkeeper.

Mount Ida's Devan Meeker took the loss in net as she allowed two goals and made nine stops for the Mustangs.

Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) played all 90 minutes in net for the Falcons and faced just two shots, making both saves to improve her tally on the season to 31

Marchitto had another great look in the 35th minute as her free kick was grabbed by Meeker by the near post.

Albertus outshot the Mustangs 21-5 on the afternoon and allowed just two shots on net. Mount Ida did not record a shot until the 24th minute of the contest.

The Mustangs will host GNAC member Emerson College Saturday afternoon with game time slated for 1:00 p.m.
