Mount Ida junior midfielder Alyssa Kelly was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon for her efforts in a pair of Mustang matches last week.
A native of Lee, Mass. and a graduate of Lee High School, Kelly became Mount Ida’s career points leader after netting nine goals and five assists for 14 points on the week that included a nine-point performance (four goals, five assists) in a 14-3 victory at Saint Joseph (Conn.). Alyssa, who also won the GNAC weekly honor on March 26th, added five tallies in Saturday’s 9-7 setback at Saint Joseph’s (Maine), and she enters the week just one goal shy of 200 in her career. Kelly’s effort in last Tuesday’s win over the Blue Jays snapped a tie with former Mustang standout Amanda Bowen atop the school’s all-time points list, as she has collected 282 points on 199 goals and 83 assists.
Kelly, who claimed GNAC Player of the Week accolades for the fourth time in her career, enters the week ranked fourth nationally in NCAA Division III play in both points (8.17) and goals (5.50) per game, as she has amassed 66 goals and 32 assists for 98 points in 12 outings this season. Head Coach Nicole Poli’s squad, which stands at 10-2 overall and 6-1 in league play, hosts Norwich in a GNAC clash on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field that begins at 6:00 pm EDT.
