LEICESTER, Mass. -- Senior Hayley Napier (Fairhaven, Mass.) netted a hat trick and three assists for six points as Mount Ida extended its winning streak to three straight with a 15-3 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Becker Thursday evening at Alumni Field.
The visiting Mustangs (4-1) raced out to a 10-0 halftime advantage and scored the first 12 goals of the contest, as junior Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) added a hat trick and two helpers as well in the triumph. Senior Emily McConnell (Dracut, Mass.) and sophomore Meghan Sargent (Brattleboro, Vt.) also chipped in with hat tricks for Mount Ida, while junior Brooke Scahill (Gales Ferry, Conn.) became the eighth player in school history to top the 100 career point plateau with a goal and assist on the night. Freshmen Jordyn Ringuette (Colchester, Conn.) and Gabby Sanabria (Norwalk, Conn.) also tallied for the Mustangs, who have outscored their opponents by a 56-11 margin during their current victory skein.
Sophomores Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) and Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H.), along with freshman Sydney Theriault (Brookfield, Conn.), netted goals in the setback for the host Hawks (0-3), as senior Eleanor Garvey (Elkridge, Md.) made five saves to pick up her fourth win of the season in goal for Mount Ida. Junior Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) made four stops in the setback for Becker, as the Mustangs outshot the Hawks by a 24-10 margin overall (18-8 on goal) and held a 16-4 advantage in draw controls for the contest.
Mount Ida hosts Rivier in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field beginning at Noon, while Becker heads to Providence, R.I. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Rhode Island College in a non-league match that begins at 1:00 p.m.
