NEWTON, Mass. – For the third time in her rookie campaign, Mount Ida midfielder Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) has once again been named Corvias Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week after her performance against Norwich this past Saturday on Senior Day.
Kelly shined once again for the Mustangs in a tremendous comeback effort against the Cadets in which she scored a game and season high nine goals, seven of them coming in the second half to go along with one assist and 10 points in the contest.
Kelly currently stands 4th in the GNAC in goals with 48 while also dishing out 18 helpers which is good for 66 points and 6th in the conference. Throughout the first 14 games this season, Kelly has scored five or more goals in five of those games while also adding five dimes in a March 26th victory at St. Joseph (Conn.)
On the ground, Kelly has picked up a team high 50 ground balls (7th in GNAC) and 54 draw controls (8th in GNAC).
Mount Ida and Kelly, will look to improve their playoff seeding on Tuesday night when they travel to defending GNAC Champion Saint Joseph's (Me.) with game time set for 8:00 PM. The Mustangs will close out the regular season this coming Saturday when they are entertained by Albertus Magnus with that game slated to begin at 5:00 PM.
