WOMEN'S LAX FALLS 15-11 TO LASERS, DROP FIRST GNAC BID

After yielding an opening lead against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Lasell College, the Mount Ida College women's lacrosse team dropped their first league loss of 2011 falling 15-11 Tuesday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts.  The Mustangs would pulled within one goal (11-10) at the 15 minute mark in the second half but it wasn't enough handing Mount Ida the loss falling to an overall record of 3-3 standing at an even .500 (1-1) in league play.

Mount Ida got a team high five goals from senior Jen Thompson (Easton, MD/Easton) while freshman Kayla Bravo (East Providence, RI/East Providence) added two scores.  Senior's Danielle Chuba (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) and Kira Feeter (Keene, NH/Keene), and freshmen Mariah Callahan (Franklin, MA/Mount Saint Charles Academy) and Molly Sheppard (Brookhaven, NY/Bellport) all added a goal a apiece.  Sheppard would dish out two assists as well.

Mustang netminder freshman Katherine Chousa (Norwood, MA/Norwood) played all 60 minutes for Mount Ida denying six shots by the Lasers.

The Mustangs will host non-conference Anna Maria College this coming Thursday afternoon with game time slated for 4:00 p.m.
