Four Mustangs Score in Double Digits To Snap Gators Streak

Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- Sophomore guard Breanna Muir (Wareham, Mass.) scored a career high 21 points to help lead the visiting Mustangs over the Gators of Pine Manor on Tuesday night by a final score of 93-78.

With the win, the Mustangs snap the Gators nine game winning streak and improve to 6-18 (3-7 GNAC) while the Gators drop to 11-13 on the season.

It was the second time in program history in which the team put up 93 points with the first time coming against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Anna Maria back in 2007. The Mustangs scored a program record 98 points back in 2006 against Lesley University.

The Mustangs shot 52.4% from three point range while Muir went 5-8 from beyond the arc. Trish Liotta (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) tallied 18 points while shooting 4 for 9 from downtown while Katlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.) shot 100% from deep range going 2 for 2 for 13 points and seven rebounds.

Mustang center Angie Martinez (Taunton, Mass.) continued her dominance in the paint also recording 21 points along with Muir while grabbing 13 rebounds; Muir also totaled four rebounds and had five dimes. 

Five Gators scored in double figures for Pine Manor in the non-conference loss as Alexis Lee (Akron, OH) led the way with a game high 22 points to go along with five assists and one steal. Khiyana Isaac (Roxbury, Mass.) tallied 19 points and seven rebounds while teammate Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, N.J.) knocked down 13 points and five rebounds. Erica Jones (Atlanta, Ga.) and Taylor Martin (Merritt Island, Florida) each recorded 10 points respectively. 

Mount Ida shot 53.1% (34-64) from the field compared to the Gators 44.9% (31-69) while the Mustangs also held the edge against PMC shooting 67.7% from the charity stripe; the Gators shot just 46.7% from the free throw line.

The Mustangs will end the 2015-16 season on Saturday when they host GNAC opponent Suffolk University with tip set for 1:00 PM. Pine Manor will host Fisher on Thursday evening to conclude their season with game time slated for 7:00.
