NEWTON, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Mount Ida center Angelique Martinez (Taunton, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball Rookie of the Week.
Martinez continued to dominate on the boards for Mount Ida over two games this past week, averaging a double-double with 13.5 rebounds per game to go with 13 points,including an 18 rebound, 16 point effort against Fisher.
That showing marked the fifth double-double of the year for Martinez, who also ha d three blocks in each contest, giving her 20 on the year, good for second in the conference.
Over the course of the week, Martinez shot 13-for-27 from the field (48%).
She returns to her spot as the GNAC's top rookie after she earned the award for the first two weeks of the season before making way for teammate Katlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.) last week.
The Mustangs have their final game of 2013 on Tuesday evening when they travel to Fitchburg State for a non-conference affair at 7:00 pm.
