NEWTON, Mass. -- Freshman guard Katlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.) ensured that Mount Ida would boast the top rookie in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball for the third week in a row.
Jesse was named GNAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon for the third week of the 2013-14 season.
In Mount Ida's only contest of last week before Thanksgiving, Jesse notched a game-high 17 points to lead the Mustangs to a 66-41 win over Wheelock, their second consecutive victory.
Jesse shot 7-for-14 from the field (50%) and hit twice from behind the three-point line. She also led the team with six assists, had six rebounds, and one steal.
She follows teammate Angelique Martinez (Taunton, Mass.), who won the award in each of the first two weeks of the season.
Following their Turkey Day break, the Mustangs will hit the road on Tuesday night for a 5:30 pm game at non-conference foe UMass Boston. They will be on their home court for the final time in 2013 on Thursday when they host Fisher (6:00 pm).
