ACOSTA NAMED TO GNAC THIRD TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

Monday, February 25, 2013 - Mount Ida College women's basketball senior guard and captain Evebonee Acosta (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) recently was selected as a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) third team All-Conference player this past weekend.  This is the first time Acosta has received yearly recognition from the league.  She was named the GNAC's Player-of-the-Week in late January as well.

Acosta led the Mustangs all season in scoring averaging 18.8 points per game good for fourth in the conference.  She recorded three double-doubles for the season adding 10 games with 20 plus points including two season-high 29 point performances against Emerson College and Pine Manor College.  Not only was Acosta a scoring machine all year for first year Head Coach Leah Lipschitz, she would also lead the Mustangs in assists (109) making her third overall in the GNAC statistical rankings.  In the 25 contests that she played in this season, Acosta recorded 14 games where she saw every minute of action playing all 40 ticks.  She was also second on the squad in rebounding (5.9 per game) even though she was one of the shortest players on the roster.

Congratulations to Evebonee on this outstanding individual accomplishment.
