The Mount Ida College women's basketball team dropped their final game of the regular season to the hands of visiting Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe St. Joseph's College (ME) Saturday afternoon falling 66-62 in Newton, Massachusetts in the back end of a doubleheader with the men's team on Pine Zone day. Although the Mustangs lost, they will be headed to their first GNAC post-season appearance since joining the conference four seasons ago. They will face hosting Suffolk University Tuesday evening in Boston, Massachusetts with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. Mount Ida ends their regular season at 9-16 and compiled a GNAC record of 5-7 for the year.
Mount Ida was led by junior transfer Shannon Wood (Gorham, ME/Bryant University) with a team high 24 points and five assists including a made half court shot at the final buzzer. Junior guard Jeileen Rivera (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) added 11 points and six assists while junior transfer Amanda Bolio (Oxford, MA/Oxford) tallied nine points and three boards.
