BOSTON, Mass. – The Mount Ida College men's and women's cross country teams ran in their final tune-up before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships when they competed at the 2014 Emmanuel Saints Invitational on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.
The women's team finished 15th, while the men's squad took a 19th place showing in a competitive field that featured over 200 male and 150 female runners.
Sophomore Cole Davis (Chester, N.H.) was the leading finisher for the Mount Ida men, running the 8k course in a time of 33:25, good for 136th place. Just four spots behind him was junior Gordon Haner (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), whose time was 33:44.
Sophomore Jabari Bradley (Farmingdale, N.Y.) turned in another strong finish (34:40), taking 155th place overall.
Freshman Jessica Roberts (Mendon, Mass.) continued her impressive rookie season, leading the Mustangs with a 54th place showing in 23:12.
Senior Emily Bernotas (Sunderland, Mass.) ran the 5k women's course in 24:56 to take 95th place overall, while classmate Leslie Campbell (Quincy, Mass.) came in 111th, in 25:54.
The GNAC championships will be held on November 1st in Standish, Maine, with Saint Joseph's College serving as the hosting school. The women will run at 1:00 pm, while the men's race will start at 2:00.
