BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- Mount Ida freshman Jessica Roberts (Mendon, Mass.) led the way for the women's cross country team at the Lt. Travis J. Fuller Invitational held on the campus of Mass Maritime on Saturday morning. Roberts helped the Mustangs women's team to an overall team finish of fourth place while she finished third overall in the individual results with a time of 20:42.
Roberts' third place finish came in a field of 46 runners and was just 1:09 behind the first place winner.
Sophomore Emily Bernotas (Sunderland, Mass.) placed 12th overall, in a time of 23:57, while Sydney Fredette (Hudson, Mass.) was also in the top twenty for the Mustangs, as her time of 25:10 placed her 19th.
Rounding out the scoring for the Mustang unti was Leslie Campbell (Quincy, Mass.) (25:57, 28th place), and Anna Hogle (New Lebanon, N.Y.) (29:22, 44th place).
Curry College won the overall team event with freshman ElizaMarie Quinn-Alger's (Harwinton, Mass.) finishing second overall in the individual race.
Quinn-Alger covered the 3.1 mile layout in a time of 20:22 to pace the Colonels, who posted a score of 35 points in claiming their first-ever team championship in the event.Junior Leigha Sweeney(Braintree, Mass.) and senior Jessica Leary (Pembroke, Mass.) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, for Curry with times of 21:33 and 22:29, while sophomore Lydia Hixson (West Hartford, Conn.) and freshman Hannah Wells(Whitman, Mass.) rounded out the Colonel scoring by posting respective 10thand 14thplace times of 23:37 and 24:23.
Emerson senior Ali Dokus (Littleton, Mass.) captured her second individual crown in three years with a winning time of 19:33, as she led the Lions to the runner-up spot in the team competition with a score of 46 points.Freshmen Nina Desilva (Edwardsville, Pa.) and Cristina Ashbaugh(San Mateo, Calif.) added respective seventh and ninth place finishes for Emerson with times of 23:09 and 23:29.
Suffolk finished third in the team standings with a score of 75 points, as senior Kelly Warwick(Newburyport, Mass.) and Sara Middleton paced the Rams with respective sixth and eighth place times of 22:56 and 23:17. Mount Ida, which was led by Roberts' third place finishing time of 20:42, was fourth in the competition with 87 points, while host Massachusetts Maritime rounded out the team scoring with 101 points.Eastern Nazarene and Newbury did not post team scores in the event.

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- The Mount Ida College men's cross country team finished third overall in the Lt. Travis J. Fuller Invitational held on Saturday morning on the campus of Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The Mustangs finished with a final score of 113.
Leading the Mustang's men's squad was sophomore captain Jabri Bradley (Farmingdale, N.Y.), whose 33:47 time put him in a 21st place finish in the field of 50.
Danny Ortiz (Worcester, Mass.) took 28th place with a 34:41 showing, and Gordon Haner (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and Derek Polish (Bow, N.H.) finished 34th and 35th with times of 35:34 and 35:45, respectively.
Alex Perreira (North Attleboro, Mass.) picked up the final points of the day for Mount Ida, taking 44th place in 39:03, while Nick Oulch (Marlborough, Mass.) finished in 47th place in 43:46.
Sophomore Jake MacVarish (Braintree, Mass.) captured top individual honors to lead host Massachusetts Maritime to the team title.
Mount Ida finished third in the team standings with 113 points to edge out both Eastern Nazarene (114) and Suffolk (115) in the competition.
MacVarish covered the five mile layout in a time of 27:50, as the Buccaneers took the top four individual spots and five of the top six in the race.Freshmen Robby Galvin(Woburn, Mass.) and Chris MacKay (Bethany, Conn.) followed MacVarish in the runner-up and third place spots, respectively, with times of 28:01 and 28:58, while senior Brenton Andrews (Hubbardston, Mass.) and freshman Ryan McNeal(Canton, Ga.) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, with times of 29:21 and 29:52 for Massachusetts Maritime, which was one point shy of a perfect score with 16 points in capturing the championship for the second time in program history.
Emerson sophomore Mike O'Connor (Hanover, Mass.) finished fifth with a time of 29:42 in leading the Lions to the runner-up spot in the team standings with 56 points, as teammate Tim Gersten followed in seventh place with a time of 30:19.Eastern Nazarene sophomore Gregory Whitney(Henniker, N.H.) finished eighth with a time of 30:33, while Suffolk senior Mohammed Nayibor(Dakar, Senegal) and Newbury sophomore Chris Beaudoin(Bristol, Conn.) rounded out the top 10 individuals with respective times of 30:44 and 31:11.
Newbury rounded out the team standings with 120 points for a sixth place finish.
Mount Ida heads to Biddeford, Maine next Saturday morning to compete in the University of New England Invitational that begins at 10:45 a.m.
