ECAC Recognizes Griffenkranz as Player of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. -- Junior Peter Griffenkranz (Deer Park, N.Y.) added a second award to his haul this week when the was recognized by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) as the Men's Volleyball Corvias Division III North Player of the Week.

Griffenkranz was already recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the Offensive Player of the Week from February 22nd to 28th as the Mustangs went 2-1 and earned their first conference win.

He notched a double-double with 18 kills and 13 digs to lead Mount Ida to that victory, a 3-1 win over Albertus Magnus, their first win over the Falcons in two years. He was also instrumental in a 3-0 win over Lesley with 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage, and for the week averaged 3.6 kills and 2.4 digs per set.

For the season, Griffenkranz has compiled 142 kills, tied for the team lead. He is also tied for the most digs on the squad, with 109, both with senior James Ames (W. Hartford, Conn.).

Griffenkranz and the Mustangs will be back on their home court tomorrow evening with a 6:00 pm non-conference game against Regis.
