WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior Peter Griffenkranz (Deer Park, N.Y.) became the second straight Mount Ida College men's volleyball player honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), as he was announced as the GNAC Corvias Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
It was the work of Griffenkranz, who recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 13 digs and who was one of three Mustangs to set a new personal best, that led the Mustangs to their first conference win of the year, a 3-1 victory over Albertus Magnus College in front of a passionate home crowd.
The junior outside hitter then turned in another double-digit performance with 10 kills and five digs with a .318 hitting percentage as the Mustangs beat Lesley 3-0 to run their winning streak to four games on Saturday afternoon.
Griffenkranz follows teammate Michael McCullough (Southborough, Mass.), who earned Defensive Player of the Week honors a week ago.
For the three-game week, Griffenkranz averaged 3.6 kills and 2.4 digs per set. He will lead the Mustangs back onto their home court on Thursday, March 3rd when they host Regis College at 6:00 pm.
