Mount Ida College men's volleyball senior captain Thomas Belton (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) notched his 1,000th kill of his career propelling the Mustangs to a crucial 3-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over hosting rival Emerson College by scores of 23-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23, and 15-9. The Mustangs head into tonight's match with Wentworth with an overall record of 8-18 standing at 3-9 in conference play.
The Mustangs were led by Belton who tallied an impressive 20 ki9lls on 54 attempts with only five errors also adding eight digs. Sophomore captain Spencer Hastings (Orlando, FL/Timber Creak) wasn't far behind with 14 kills on 29 attempts along with five solo blocks and three block assists. Senior setter Shane Wilson (Gloucester, MA/Gloucester) dished out 41 assists and added seven digs. Junior's McCoy Arnoux (Brockton, MA/Brockton) and Franklin McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) chipped in six kills apiece.
