MUSTANGS FALL IN BOTH END OF TRI-MATCH SATURDAY

The Mount Ida College men's volleyball dropped both non-conference bids in their first tri-match of the season this Saturday at Elms College falling 3-2 against the Blazers by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20, and 15-12 and against visiting Newbury College 3-1 by scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, and 25-18.  The Mustangs remain winless to start the season for an overall record of 0-5 and stand at 0-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. 

Against Newbury, the Mustangs were led by Thomas Belton (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) who downed a team-high 10 kills, while Shane Wilson (Gloucester, MA/Gloucester) distributed a match-best 29 assists and added eight digs.

Belton and Ricky Oliveira (New Bedford, MA/) totaled nine digs each, while Belton assisted on three blocks in the loss.

Against Elms, the Mustangs received a match-high 20-kill effort from Spencer Hastings (Orlando, FA/Timber Creak), while Wilson was tremendous in running the Mount Ida offense, dishing out a match-high 42 assists. Hastings also notched 10 digs in the losing effort.

Mount Ida will host Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member Albertus Magnus College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
