Thursday, October 11, 2012 (Newton, Massachusetts) - The Mount Ida College men's soccer team snapped a two-game winning streak with a 3-0 non-league loss to visiting Elms College Thursday afternoon on Alumni Field in Newton, Massachusetts.

The Mustangs fall to an overall record of 6-6-1 holding a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) slate of 4-3-0.  The Blazers improve to 5-5-1 for 2012 with a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) standing of 1-1.

After a 0-0 stalemate through the first half of play, the visitors got on the board twice in a very short period of time with two goals from visiting junior forward/midfielder Adam O'Grady (Somers, CT/Somers) for the 2-0 lead through 65 minutes of play.  O'Grady has been a scoring machine for Elms recording four scores in the past two contests.

O'Grady's first tally came on a one-on-one with Mount Ida net minder Matt Pils (Monroe, CT/Masuk) depositing a shot into the lower right corner to lead 1-0 in the 53rd minute.

The Blazers second goal was again converted by O'Grady on a two-on-one with Pils off a feed from junior forward Ziggy Jonathan (Burundi, Africa/Science and Technology) up 2-0 through the 65th minute.

Elms added their final score of the day in the 76th minute of play on a through ball from sophomore Joseph Coleman (Easthampton, MA/Home Schooled) to visiting midfielder Gerard Lawler (Langwarrin, Victoria, Australia/Casey Grammar) finishing off their Blazers third goal handing Mount Ida the 3-0 non-conference loss.

Although Pils gave up three scores, he made a bunch of very difficult saves during the contest stopping five shots.  Visiting freshman goal tender Christian Kostka (Oxford, CT/Oxford) saw all 90 minutes adding seven saves.

The Mustangs will head back into GNAC action Saturday against hosting Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island starting at 2:30 p.m. while the Blazers will travel to NECC foe Newbury College the same day with game time slated for 1:00 p.m.
