The Mount Ida College men's soccer team surrendered a 4-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss to hosting rival and neighboring foe Lasell College Saturday afternoon.
The Lasers improved their record to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the league, while the Mustangs dropped to 2-4-1 and 1-2 in conference play.
Ryan Montemurro (Meriden, Conn.), Sokol Bako(Kucove, Albania), Kyle Cronin(Weymouth, Mass.) and Cedric Dybaud (Abijian, Ivory Coast) each scored for Lasell who held a 12-5 edge in shots. Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) earned the win in net for Lasell, while Matt Pils (Monroe, Conn.) took the loss for Mount Ida.
Montemurro got the hosts on the board in the 25th minute, courtesy of a Nery Guerra (Guatamala City, Guatamala) assist, for the only goal in the opening half. Bako added to the Lasell lead with a well struck ball on a set piece that beat Pils to the far post. Cronin's goal in the 70th minute gave Lasell a 3-0 edge, and Dybaud closed the scoring in the 89th minute on the second assist of the day for Guerra.
Mount Ida will return to action on Tuesday September 25th when they host Anna Maria College.
