MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO NON-CONFERENCE BECKER 3-2 IN OT

The Mount Ida College men's soccer team answered a two goal deficit late in the second half only to lose their seventh consecutive game 3-2 in overtime to hosting non-conference Becker College Tuesday night in Worcester, Massachusetts.  The Mustangs fall to 0-7 the season and remain at 0-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

The Hawks got the scoring started when Jinaldo DeBrito (New Bedford, Mass.) rebounded a Tim Howard (Paxton, Mass.) shot, driving it into the back of the Mount Ida net. Becker increased their lead to 2-0 when Steve Araujo (Westport, Mass.) made a beautiful centering pass, setting up Brandon Frey (Sound Beach, NY.) for his second career goal.

Mount Ida got on the board at 57:12 when Ryan Richardson (Winfield, KS/Winfield) headed a pass from Joseph Casey (Merrimack, MA/Pentucket) past the dive of Becker goalkeeper Tim McDonald (Holden, Mass.) Richardson tied the game at two apiece when he once again redirected a shot with his head on an indirect shot from Carlos Rojas (Stamford, CT/Westhill).

In the second overtime Becker ended the game with 1:59 remaining when Brandon Frey fed Aldo Karkanjozi (Sterling Heights, MI.) on a give and go, as Karkanjozi blasted a shot past the dive of Mount Ida goalkeeper Steven Enright (South Kingston, RI/South Kingston) for the game winner.

Mustang keeper Enright made seven saves in a losing effort while Mcdonald made seven saves for the Hawks.

The Mustangs will host GNAC foe Suffolk University this coming Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.
