NEWTON, Mass. -- The Mount Ida College men's lacrosse team finished their 2016 regular season with two dominant wins, and now will head to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason as the #5 seed and will face Johnson & Wales on Wednesday at 4:00 pm in Providence.
When they do so, they will have the reigning GNAC Corvias Men's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week in between the Pipes.
Sophomore Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) was awarded that honor on Monday afternoon after helping the Mustangs to wins over Albertus Magnus and Anna Maria and a 4-4 conference record at the end of the scheduled slate of games.
Hayward made seven stops against Albertus Magnus in a 25-4 Mount Ida win, then shut out Anna Maria through the first half as Mount Ida went on to blank the Amcats 24-0.
The sophomore netminder is third in the conference in goals against average (9.02), saves (202) and save percentage (58%).
