Hayward Earns First Conference Award of 2015 for Men’s Lacrosse

WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman goalkeeper Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) was the first Mount Ida College men's lacrosse player recognized this year by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) when he was named Goalie of the Week on Monday afternoon.

The award was for the week of April 5-12th, in which the Mustangs went 4-0 and ran their winning streak to seven straight games.

Hayward went 2-0 in his two starts for Mount Ida last week, allowing just 4.01 goals against, including just three goals against in a 21-3 conference win over Anna Maria.

Hayward made 11 stops on that game and 20 for the week, which also saw him lead the Green and White to a 24-6 road win against Regis, where he made nine saves.

The awards were announced by the conference office and Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Mike Ghika.

Hayward and the Mustangs will face their rivals Lasell College this afternoon at 3:30 pm in a game with major implications for GNAC postseason seeding.
