MEN'S LACROSSE SELECTS FOUR CAPTAINS FOR 2013 SEASON

The Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse team and 10th year Head Coach Andrew Fink has named their 2013 captains for the upcoming season.  Senior’s Nick Maurais (Peabody, MA/Peabody), Ryan Tirelli (Yorktown, NY/Yorktown) and Will Krach (Agawam, MA/Agawam) and junior Brian Lee (Mashpee, MA/Mashpee) were the student-athlete’s selected to lead the Mustangs this year.

“It’s an honor to be a captain on a team that has such a successful history and I look forward to leading the squad to another successful year,” said a very excited Tirelli. Tirelli, who started the season with an injury in a scrimmage against Babson College, has seen action in 53 contests through his three year career as a speedy defensive midfielder.

“I feel lucky to be put in this position to lead hopefully the next couple of years and hopefully continue to be successful as we have been in the past.  We have a great coaching staff and a very dedicated group of guys and I’m excited for the opportunity,” said Lee who will be out the remainder of the year with an Achilles tendon injury.

"Being elected by my teammates and coaching staff to be captain for the 2013 season is a tremendous honor. Throughout my career at Mount Ida, I have been privileged enough to have played under many talented, dedicated, and inspiring captains, and to now be a part of that group is incredible,” said Krach.  Krach will be the main face-off specialist this season going 35-60 last year in the middle circle.

“I’m privileged to have been chosen to lead the team this year,” said Maurias.  “I’m looking forward to leading the charge for such a great program with a dedicated coaching staff with a successful past.”  Maurias was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) first team All-Conference for the second straight time in his career last season.
