COACH ANDREW FINK NAMED NAC COACH OF THE YEAR

Mount Ida College eighth year head coach Andrew Fink was selected as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Coach-of-the-Year this season voted in by his peers for the second time in his career.  Fink guided the Mustangs to a perfect 9-0 conference mark to propel his program into their seventh consecutive berth into the conference post-season title game.  Fink was awarded Coach-of-the-Year in 2004, his first ever year at the helm of the program.

Unfortunately for the Mustangs, they fell for the first time in as many years to Castleton State College 11-5 on May 8, 2010 in the NAC championship game.  The Spartans, who played Mount Ida in the past six consecutive NAC title games, captured their first ever conference title trophy with the victory.

The Mustangs, who will leave the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) at the end of this year, will join the other 11 Mount Ida varsity sports in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) starting in 2011.  Fink and the men’s lacrosse program leave the NAC with an impressive 54-1 regular season record with six conference titles in seven years and three NCAA Tournament appearances (Middlebury College, Bowdoin College, and Springfield College).
